[b]Liwwadden[/b] (Nederlands: Leeuwarden; Fries: Ljouwert) is de hoofdstad van de provincie Friesland en ook de hoofdplaats van de gelijknamige gemeente Leeuwarden. Op 31 december 2008 telde de gemeente 93.601 inwoners en bijna 55.000 arbeidsplaatsen. Leeuwarden is één van de Friese elf steden en voert als gemeenteslogan 'Kijk, dat is het mooie van Leeuwarden!'.
