Hierdoor zal de biologische diversiteit groot zijn, oftwel: veel en veel rassen. Niet elk ras zal natuurlijk even slim zijn, je zult ook af en toe tegen de lokale fauna moeten vechten. BioWare heeft al enkele races bekend gemaakt en achtergrond informatie daarover vrijgegeven, meerdere rassen zullen in de toekomst volgen. Hieronder alvast de namen van de tot nu toe vrijgegeven rassen:

Aangezien je een squad zult besturen is het mogelijk om een diverse squad te maken. Je kan natuurlijk ook kiezen om iedereen hetzelfde te laten worden, maar er zal een grote kans zijn dat elk ras beter is in de ene class dan in de andere.

Later zal je in het spel zelfs de mogelijkheid hebben om te kiezen uit nog zes andere classes. In de toekomst zal er uitgebreide informatie komen over al de classes. Tot nu toe zijn alleen de volgende belicht:
