Deze serie heeft onder andere de Emmy gewonnen voor "beste drama serie". Het gaat over een 40-tal mensen die een vliegtuigramp/crash hebben overleefd en op een (zo lijkt het) onbewoond eiland terechtkomen. Dit klinkt misschien wat cliché maar dat is het totaal niet. Het verhaal is doorweven met verfijnde character-builds, plots, mysteries en meer vreemde dingen. Niets is wat het lijkt, en alles kan met elkaar te maken hebben. Nu het bekend is dat er personages van het eiland afkomen, zien we nu hoe deze zich ontwikkelen in het leven na het eiland. Dit zien we door het gebruik van flash forwards. Hierdoor is Lost vanaf het vierde seizoen een andere serie geworden; wie komt er van het eiland af, en wie niet?
