Een unieke naam voor een unieke console. Bij Wii draait alles om plezier en toegankelijkheid. Met z'n unieke gameplay-mogelijkheden en z'n lage prijs probeert Nintendo hiermee iedereen aan het gamen te krijgen!

De Wii's grootste vernieuwing zit in de controller. De Wiimote zoals fans het op een afstandsbediening uitziende apparaatje noemen beschikt over verschillen de bewegingssensoren. De draadloze Wiimote is niet alleen gevoelig voor bewegingen, hij is voorzien van een trilfunctie en heeft zelfs een ingebouwde speaker. De speler wordt hierdoor volledig ondergedompeld in het spel, met geluidseffecten als de smash van een tennisracket of de slag van een zwaard.
Daarnaast kan de controller worden uitgerust met de zogenaamde Nunchuck. Deze is met een draad te bevestigen aan de controller zelf en bezit een stuurknuppel en een firebutton. Met behulp van deze Nunchuck is het bv. mogelijk rond te lopen in een first person shooter terwijl je met de controller je pistool richt en afvuurt.

De bekende Nintendo-franchises komen allemaal terug naar de Wii, maar zullen uiteraard een nieuwe ervaring bieden dankzij Wii's mogelijkheden. De third party support is ook goed vertegenwoordigd, dus er zullen genoeg nieuwe games verschijnen. Met "Virtual Console" is het mogelijk om NES, SNES en N64 games te downloaden en te spelen. Ook enkele games van Sega's Megadrive en de TurboGrafx console zullen beschikbaar zijn. Verwacht ook nieuwe eenvoudige arcade achtige games.
