Wii\\\'s draadloze afstandsbediening is bewegingsgevoelig en geeft je meer dan ooit het gevoel zelf onderdeel uit te maken van de games die je erop speelt. Een games revolutie.[/i][/b] [cimg]http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b89/ruzbeh/barwiicopy.png[/cimg] De Wii heeft een compact ontwerp dat bij elke televisieset past. Je kunt de Wii rechtop zetten of plat leggen. En dankzij het elegante ontwerp, ongeveer zo groot is als drie dvd-doosjes op elkaar, kun je de Wii eenvoudig aan je entertainment-opstelling toevoegen, zonder dat het systeem meteen alle ruimte in beslag neemt. Met de Wii-afstandsbediening kun je het systeem tevens op veel meer plekken kwijt, zodat het beter past bij je inrichting. [limg]http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b89/ruzbeh/wii-discn.png[/limg]De automatisch ladende diskdrive kan optische disks (12 centimeter, eenzijdig 4.7gb of dubbelzijdig 8.51 GB) voor de Wii evenals Nintendo GameCube-disks (8 centimeter) afspelen. Hiermee is het de eerste Nintendo console die backwards compatible is. Je kan altijd via het internet communiceren, zelfs als het systeem niet gebruikt wordt. Deze WiiConnect24-dienst zorgt voor nieuwe verrassingen of spelupdates, zelfs als de gebruikers niet op de Wii aan het spelen zijn. Gebruikers kunnen draadloos verbinding maken via IEEE 802.11b/g of een USB 2.0 LAN-adapter. Tevens kan je met een Wii draadloos communiceren met de Nintendo DS. [rimg]http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b89/ruzbeh/wii.png[/rimg]Het systeem biedt downloadtoegang tot 20 jaar aan populaire titels die oorspronkelijk zijn uitgebracht voor de Nintendo 64, het Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) en zelfs het Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). De Virtual Console biedt tevens een selectie van de beste titels voor de Sega Mega Drive en de TurboGrafx-console (een systeem dat is ontwikkeld door NEC en Hudson). De Virtual Console biedt ten slotte toegang tot games van onafhankelijke spelontwikkelaars die over meer creativiteit dan geld beschikken. Ten slotte beschikt de Wii over maar liefst 512 megabyte intern flash-geheugen, twee USB 2.0-poorten en ingebouwde Wi-Fi-mogelijkheden. Via de opening aan het voorkant kunnen spelers het interne flash-geheugen uitbreiden met SD-geheugenkaarten. De specificaties van de rest van het systeem luiden als volgt: Broadway CPU 729MHZ, 64MB GDDR3 (MEM2) geheugen, Hollywood GPU 243MHZ, 24MB geheugen, 88MB totaal geheugen. Het systeem is circa 1.5x krachtiger dan de Gamecube. De Wii is op 8 December in Europa uitgekomen, voor een adviesprijs van �249,99, inclusief Wii Sports. Via draadloze Bluetooth-technologie kun je maximaal vier Wii-afstandsbedieningen aansluiten. Het draadloze signaal kan binnen een straal van 10 meter rond het systeem worden waargenomen. Zowel de Wii-afstandsbediening als de Nunchuk-controller bevatten een drieassige bewegingssensor. De Wii-afstandsbediening bevat tevens een luidspreker, trilfunctie en uitbreidingspoort. Daarnaast kun je het binnen 5 meter van het scherm als aanwijzer gebruiken. De Wii-afstandsbediening is voorzien van een aan/uit-schakelaar, richtingsknop, A-, B-, Min-, HOME-, Plus-, 1- en 2-knoppen. De Nunchuk-controller is voorzien van een analoge Control Stick en C- en Z-knoppen. De third party support is ook goed vertegenwoordigd, met name bij de Japanese ontwikkelaars, dus er zullen genoeg nieuwe games verschijnen. Met \\\"Virtual Console\\\", zoals eerder genoemd, is het mogelijk om NES, SNES en N64 games te downloaden en te spelen. Ook enkele games van Sega\\\'s Megadrive en de TurboGrafx console zullen beschikbaar zijn. Verwacht ook nieuwe eenvoudige arcade achtige games.
